Great Turnout at Midleton Tul Tournament

From Mr. Dwyer:

Just a quick note to thank everyone that supported the Midleton patterns and destruction tournament this weekend. I think everyone was very happy with the day, and there was a very high quality of technique shown.

Thanks to Innishannon, Carrigaline, Frankfield/Bishopstown, Ballincollig, Blackrock, Shandon St and Galway for the support, especially to Galway for making the long trip down, and thanks to Mr. Daly, Mr. Manning, Ms. Burke, Ms. Greene and Mr. Allen for helping out with the judging. Special thanks then to Mr. Nyhan who was first to arrive and last to leave and worked all day without a break, we wouldn’t have had a tournament without him.

Every club went away with a winner of a section with Carrigaline, Bishopstown/Frankfield and Ballincollig all taking 1 each, Galway and Blackrock taking 3 each, Innishannon taking 4 and with the home crowd of Midleton taking 10.

Last mention then just for a few winners of note;

  • to Imran Shareef, a yellow belt from Midleton who won the under 6 boys and Grand Champion category
  • to Courtney Collins, a white belt from Innishannon who won the under 8 girls section and also the mixed under 8 Grand Champion category beating several blue belts along the way.
  • to Natalia Hefkaluk, a blue belt from Midleton who won the under 10 girls section and also the mixed under 10 Grand Champion category beating blackbelt competitors along the way
  • to Mr. Sam O’ Sullivan and Mr. Daniel Ghori from Frankfield who were both very close with Mr. O’ Sullivan taking victory in the under 12 section
  • to Daniel Dempsey of Galway for winning the adult white-yellow section
  • to Ian O’ Brien of Carrigaline for winning the adult green-blue section
  • to Mr. James Dwyer for fixing it so he won the blackbelt section ;-)
  • to Ms. Clodagh Fitzpatrick for winning the ladies patterns and destruction
  • and finally to Mr. Tony Casey who won both the male hand and foot destruction seeing off fierce competition from both Mr. Allen and Mr. Nyhan. There was a danger that we were about to run out of boards for them to break but in the end Mr. Casey won out.

Thanks again and hope to see you all at the next TaeKwon-Do Ireland event in Innishannon, October 23rd.

Yours in TaeKwon-Do,

Mr. James Dwyer
